Cadet Smart might be a sixth former but she behaves like a fourth former. When she goes on a week end exercise for Army and Navy cadets, she is in charge of taking the army cadets out to an island in a ferry boat. Afterwards she is told to tie the boat securely, but she ties it to a convenient wire, which turns out to be the telephone line. The line snaps, the boat floats out to sea, all communictions are cut with the island and the cadets have to be recued by the coast guard. The head mistress is furious. She straps Cadet Smart's bottom, but she cannot stop laughing at what happened. The irate headmistress fetches the cane and gives her twelve of the best.
