Who is that strange girl wandering about the garden? Headmaster Tom had stepped out onto the balcony to breathe some fresh air into his lungs and take in the beautiful view when he sees her. He calls two of his students and tells them to bring the unknown girl to him. They are quick to obey. They have learned not to argue but to do what he says immediately. Dragging her protesting loudly, into the house; they leave her sitting on a chair in the hall to await HM Tom coming to speak to her. He asks her who she is – where has she come from? But she doesn't say a word. This makes him believe she doesn't understand him – probably a language barrier. When he tells her he'll have to phone the police – now that she obviously understands, because she pleads with him not to do so. She tells him her name is Rose and that she comes from Nowhere. She agrees that she would like to become a student at Girls Boarding School. So HM Tom decides to teach her obedience and that breaking of the rules is a punishable offence. He tells her to take off her skirt. However, she dilly's and dally's, so he has her taking off her skirt and knickers and putting them back on again. He isn't satisfied until she can take her skirt and knickers off in a matter of seconds. She is then introduced to the cane. Her bottom is becoming red and striped. She cries out loudly and attempts to come out of position to rub her bottom. He warns her not to do it again or he'll have to start from the beginning. For the final strokes of the cane, he has her thanking him for caning her.
